Our company, Servicios Industriales de la Marina S.A. known as SIMA, was established as a state-owned company under private law in 1950 pursuing the activities of the former Naval Factory founded in 1845, and continually extending its operational capacity, first to the shipbuilding which SIMA pioneered in the region and then to the greatest metalworking structures manufacture, contributing to the defense and socio-economic development of the country.
We serve the Navy of Peru as well as domestic and foreign private clients through a wide range of products. We record delivery of over one thousand ships to date, standing out the construction of large sea-going vessels, fishing boats and seagoing tugs, and around five hundred metalworking structures such as bridges, spillway gates and port structures. Complying with the highest standards of quality in each of our projects and thus receiving recognition from our clients.
Our products and services are provided to the domestic market and export destination, exploiting the geographical advantages of our three Operations Centers; located in Callao, main port of the Pacific Ocean in South America, Chimbote, leading fishing port, and Iquitos on the banks of the great Amazonas River. These centers have large facilities such as docks, piers and ship parking facilities as well as well-equipped workshops that enable us to meet the requirements of a wide variety of customers efficiently and timely.

ASMAR Magallanes, the southernmost shipyard in the world, was born in 1896 when the Bonacic Brothers started the construction of the Naval Shipyard in Punta Arenas, which turned to be ASMAR 21 de Mayo Shipyard. In 1986, a society between the South African company Sandock Austral Ltd and ASMAR created SAEM Shipyard in Bahia Catalina. In 1999, both facilities were merged in the latest location to provide a comprehensive shipyard.
At present, ASMAR Magallanes facilities, approved by ISPS Code (International Ship & Port Facilities Security), include a marine railway for ships up to 3,570 tons, a 212m longitudinal transference line and a 135m parallel transference line with a total of 9 docking positions, a 300m pier and a wide range of workshops where all kind of ship repair works are offered.
The Shipyard also builds 9.5m self-propelled barges for loading and unloading operations, allowing her to transport a 20" container.
